Mellanie Jinette, Chief Financial Officer of the School District of Chester County, was presented with the Outstanding South Carolina School Business Official Award at the 2020 Spring SCASBO conference.
This award is presented annually by the South Carolina Association of School Business Officials. Award nominees must be an active member of the School Business Officials state organization, have at least three years’ experience in education finance, and demonstrate exemplary service to their school district, the profession, their colleagues and their communities.
Mrs. Jinette has over twenty-five years of service in school district finance. She is currently employed by the School District of Chester County, where she serves as the Chief Financial Officer. Previously, she served in various roles in the SC Department of Education’s Office of Finance for most of her career in school finance. Her hard work, eventually led her to the rank of Chief Financial Officer at the SCDE Office of Finance.
Mellanie is a past president of SCASBO and currently serves as Chair of the Legislative Committee. She was also instrumental in development of SCASBO’s certification program. She helped establish SCASBO’s Champion of Education award that has been presented to three members of the General Assembly.
According to Angela Bain, Superintendent of the School District of Chester County, her focus is not just finance but the students are at the center of all her decisions. She has earned the trust and respect of Chester County’s principals, administrators, school board members, and state legislators.
